Description

Warts are small rough lumps on the skin. They are caused by a virus (human papillomavirus) which causes a reaction in the skin. Warts can occur anywhere on the body but occur most commonly on hands and feet. They range in size from 1 mm to over 1 cm. Sometimes only one or two warts develop. Sometimes several occur in the same area of skin. The shape and size of warts vary and they are sometimes classed by how they look. Examples are: Bazuka Gel, Bazuka Treatment Gel & Bazuka Extra Strength Gel are for the treatment of verrucas, warts, corns and calluses. Bazuka Extra Strength Treatment Gel, Bazuka Sub-Zero and Bazuka Advance Treatment Pen are for the treatment of verrucas and warts. Bazuka Gels contain salicylic acid. Bazuka Advance Treatment Pen contains formic acid. Bazuka Advance Treatment Pen is a medical device. Bazuka Sub-Zero is a medical device based on the cryotherapy 'freezing' technique used by doctors. Always read the label. Several hundred of you put this technique to the test and got in touch to let us know how you got on and now the numbers have been crunched and the results are in... To avoid verrucas and warts do protect yourselves by wearing flip flops in communal showers. And if you do find a verruca or wart, treat at the first sign.

Not to be used on moles, birthmarks, warts with hair growing from them, genital warts or warts on the face or mucous membranes or to large areas of the body. The British Skin Foundation – registered as a charitable incorporated organisation with registered charity number 1171373 If you experience any foot care issues that do not resolve themselves naturally or through routine foot care within three weeks, you should seek the help of a healthcare professional. If you have diabetes or poor circulation, are pregnant or have any other condition affecting your feet (or your immune system), it is important never to treat a verruca yourself and instead visit a podiatrist

Do not use same pumice stone, nail file and or nail clippers for your warts and your healthy skin and nails. Treating plantar warts can be painful, especially when liquid nitrogen is used, and can occasionally cause a blister which, on the sole, can be very uncomfortable. If treatment has not worked or you have a wart on your face, the GP might refer you to a skin specialist (dermatologist). Freezing warts may also be effective. Many GPs and practice nurses are skilled at this. You can also get private treatment with cryotherapy from podiatrists. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used. The nitrogen is sprayed on or applied to the wart. Liquid nitrogen is very cold and the freezing and thawing destroys the wart tissue. To clear the wart fully it can need up to 4-6 treatment sessions, sometimes more. Each treatment session is a couple of weeks or so apart.

To avoid catching verrucae, keep your feet in a healthy condition. Always dry them thoroughly after washing and if your feet are sweaty, treat them with surgical spirit; if they are dry, moisturise them with suitable creams or lotions, but avoid applying between the toes. This service is not available on the NHS. It is offered as a private (paid for) service by some podiatrists. Specialist treatments If you have diabetes or poor circulation, you should use salicylic acid only on the advice of a doctor. If you have a large or very painful verruca, you may be referred to a foot specialist (podiatrist). Warts and verrucas are the same thing – and are caused by various strains of the human papilloma virus (there are over 100 strains, and there’s pretty much no avoiding getting at least one of them through such things as shared changing rooms). So, when you get one, how do you get rid of it?
