Bluetooth Ver 4.2: Profile Supports A2DP (Audio), AVRCP (Remote Control), GATT (MIDI over Bluetooth Low Energy) I've been chasing great headphone tone for decades, and I've tried scores of products from dozens of big brands. This is the closest thing I've heard over headphones to the sound of a great amp and speakers captured in the studio. There is no discernible latency, and playing through it feels like an amp. Don’t do this, unless you want to find yourself in a tedious spiral of resetting/switching off Bluetooth and rebooting your device. Connect to the audio side, and it’s plain sailing. The phrase ‘RTFM’ springs to mind...

user memories are on board and feature ready-to-play sounds which you can customise however you want or you can start your own from scratch. To charge the unit, use the USB port of a computer or a commercially available USB power supply adaptor (5 V, 500 mA or higher). Accessories Owner's manual The functionality adds up to a superb desktop amp for practice, recording and small gigs that builds on the quality foundations of the original THR But, here we are: they’re great, with plenty of useable presets straight out of the box you’ve got enough clean/crunch/hi-gain amps, as well as a whole host of drive, modulation, pitch, filter andtime-based effects to play with. To charge the unit, use the USB port of a computer or a commercially available USB power supply adaptor (5 V, 500 mA or higher). There’s also an automatic chord feature for when you’re not looking to create your own stuff, but are looking to master your existing favourite song. The sessions feature that allows you to play along with YouTube videos is a great way to practice. Being able to slow things down, set a loop, and have a preset assigned to each session makes it really easy and fun to practice. There is one flaw with this system though, many YouTube videos cannot be added to a session because the video has been "embedded-restricted" by the creator. I have found that almost every "official" video of a song cannot be played in a session. Most instructional videos or covers can be played, but not the originals. You can still stream the audio with Bluetooth and play along but you won't be able to use the session features. Just a heads up. These figures will vary depending on the actual conditions of use. Battery charging time Approximately 3 hours Battery charging time: Approximately 3 hours. Overall, you are able to do everything it is supposed to do, although some physical controls on the unit (e.g., “fast forward”) don’t do the expected function on this desktop version of the application. The layout of the controls is quite correct, but I can’t help but have the feeling that a product like this, tailored to the use of Youtube and practice, could have had less of the nineties look. Once you've set up your markers you can save the video URL and marker information as a file or to the app itself so that you can recall everything for your next practice session or share everything with a friend or student. Tones can be saved or exported for recall or sharing too, so you could send all the sounds you've programmed for a particular YouTube video plus all the marker information for when those sounds should change. A fantastic addition! Super impressed with the quality and variety of sounds you can get out of this little thing. So much so that I'm now considering something like a Helix HX stomp rather than a new amp. I live in a townhome and I bought this as a way to practice without bothering the neighbors or spouse. I'm able to do that and much more than I can do with my regular amp. So, we’re really getting a lot more sounds than meets the eye; it even has quite specific harmonizers and effects, revealing an attention to detail that is to be welcomed. SoundsA series of powerful session tools are included in the Boss Tone Studio app to help you build your skills faster.

The part dedicated to sound editing is divided into two sections: the physical one (where we can control some basic parameters, and the Tone Studio app, which is frankly very complete. In fact, the whole family of Katana and GT products enjoys this flexibility of effect editing, which is really good in the whole Boss family. The Positive Grid Spark 40 might just be the ultimate at-home amp. The tones are great, and the smart tech is indeed smart. Auto Chord and Smart Jam are incredible practice and learning tools, and a lot of fun, too. For more control and the ability to make more detailed edits to the huge amount of inbuilt effects, you can use the free Boss Tone Studio app. You can also set specific markers anywhere on the timeline of the video, by using the Sessions Player function within BTS, which will change tone/settings handsfree. This means you can concentrate on the video lesson, performance and playing, as opposed to distracting yourself in trying to do a million things at once.

It works via Bluetooth and has an internal battery, and we will only need the guitar cable and headphones. At first glance, it doesn’t sound bad, does it? I’m not sure if we could consider this a first of its kind when you take Positive Grid’s Spark Amp into consideration and how they have also integrated digital platforms into the device, but everything is definitely travelling in the right direction. AF method (Adaptive Focus method) is a proprietary method from Roland & BOSS that vastly improves the signal-to-noise (SN) ratio of the AD and DA converters. The effects are pretty correct and can help to give a dash of extra realism to the sounds we try to emulate. And as you can probably tell, we can save our own presets and make our own sound libraries with the help of the application. Pros and Cons The Boss GT-1 is one of the most affordable and best value for money pedalboards on the market. The Japanese brand has been manufacturing analogue and digital effect pedals for decades and stands out for its professionalism and good work.
