Perhaps this isn’t all that surprising because there is something about a sexy nun, isn’t there? I’ve seen many “sexy nun” outfits around Halloween but struggle to recall anyone dressing as a “sexy priest”. Apart from the “Hot Priest” in Fleabag, obviously, and Friar F**k (who featured in the classic porn parody Thobbin’ Hood), there isn’t much in the way of sexy religious men. But the fantasy of a nun gone bad is so common it can be ranked alongside sexy secretary or the naughty nurse.

Lucifer. Lucifer offers a priest a Place of Protection. Cut to several nuns descending a staircase in what appears to be a candle-lit crypt... until they throw off their veils to reveal themselves as strippers in Lucifer's nightclub. Fortunately the priest is entirely unruffled by Lucifer's attempts to expose him to temptation. The Simpsons: When Lisa visits a covenant, she sees a nun trying to act out Marilyn Munroe's famous skirt blow scene. A large part of the plot (and humor) of The Little Hours relies on this trope. Most of the nuns in this movie get rowdy at some point or another, whether is it with fellow nuns or the male protagonist, and the mother superior is in what seems like a steady relationship with the priest of the monastery. Then there's Caren, from Fate/hollow ataraxia, whose outfit is outright Stripperiffic... and she admittedly does it on purpose to manipulate men.

The Friday Night Funkin' mod Mid-Fight Masses features Sarvente, who wears a fetishized purple nun outfit complete with thigh-high boots. Pops up in Exalted, where one of the Infernal Exalted signature characters wears a Naughty Nun outfit (as seen in this post on the official White Wolf livejournal). This is totally nonsensical, since we never once see anyone in Creation wearing an even slightly similar outfit - the local equivalent would be Immaculate Monks (who can be either male or female), but apparently it was too difficulty to make a fetishized version of brown robes and a shaved head. The French Céline Dion song "La Religieuse" ("The Nun") describes the internal conflict of a nun tortured by her memories of a life of passion. In a funny conversation, Peg tells Al that she wants to catch a film based on a true story about a nun's dark side. Apparently, this nun couldn't handle the pressure of maintaining her status so she snapped and shot up her covenant.

We are living through strange and unpredictable times, but even by current standards of bizarre, Pope Francis casually announcing that nuns are watching online pornography a couple of weeks ago was out there. Truly, no one could have seen that coming, which is ironic because according to the Pontiff, that’s exactly what nuns have been doing. Because no one can apparently leave women alone for a single second, cinema has a long and torrid fascination with nuns in compromising positions.

Killer Nun (1979)

If a nun is fetishized, expect her habit to be far shorter and tighter than anything you would see in a real convent. Additionally, most Nuns Are Mikos in anime. Church Militant nuns, by nature of not only being a nun but an Action Girl, have a tendency of following this trope as well.

Alice Elliott of Shadow Hearts fame sort of qualifies. She's not evil or even particularly promiscuous, but whenever she's onscreen it's a panty shot moment (you'd think a pious, God-fearing sweet-and-innocent girl like her would show a bit less leg. Plus, she likes to hit enemies with her Bibles. Mythica: Teela is a chaste, pious priestess starting out, and also very beautiful. She bathes regularly, saying her goddess demands the practice, and has mutual sexual tension with Thane until they finally have sex. Nuns are women who have dedicated their lives to religious service, forgoing sex and material wealth. In the land of fiction, they complete the Fetish Trio right up there with Nurses and Maids. The naughty nun motif is about more than critiquing the power of the Church. Nuns devote themselves to a life of chastity, which does seem to invite eroticism (Photo: PaoloBis/ Getty Images) Georges Brassens' song Le Moyennageux is about him wishing he was born during the Middle Ages; he goes on explaining that part of the appeal is that he could have had sex with nuns, who "in this blessed times did not always say nay" and were part-time prostitutes for the fun of it.Italy was not the only country to exploit the bad habits of nasty nuns in cinema at this time. During the golden age of the exploitation movie in the 1970s naughty nun cinema exploded around the globe. Game of Thrones: Myranda claims to have been a septa-in-training escapee. Given her role and personality, it's possible she's lying.
