In 2014, Vanessa Feltz alleged that Harris sexually assaulted her while she interviewed him live on the bed during an edition of Channel 4 morning programme The Big Breakfast, [139] and Linda Nolan alleged that he groped her when she was 15 when the Nolan Sisters were his support act in South Africa. After his early successes as a children’s performer, Harris achieved much wider fame on television in the late 1960s with The Rolf Harris Show on Saturday nights, a prime-time fixture from 1967 until 1971. Harris attended Bassendean State School and Perth Modern School in Subiaco, later gaining a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia and a Diploma of Education from Claremont Teachers' College (now Edith Cowan University). He said: "In front of Alwen, he’d take a woman’s hand, hold their hand and pull them in closer to them and then he would start kissing them all the way up their arm and he’d get up to their neck and then he'd be kissing their neck.He painted a portrait of the late Queen in 2005 to mark her 80th birthday, and a record-breaking 100,000 people flocked to Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery to see an exhibition of his work seven years later. In the late 1980s, Harris was touring in Australia and was asked to sing his own version of Led Zeppelin's " Stairway to Heaven" for the television programme The Money or the Gun performing with his own small group; a version was released as a single in the UK several years later. Nor, it should be said, did a large handful of art dealers and auctioneers I contacted to get their opinions on the worth or otherwise of Harris’s art today.

At the Down Under venue Harris honed his entertainment skills over several years, eventually writing what later became his theme song, " Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport".

Despite attempts by the BBC to vary the material, Harris insisted on keeping his shows as he wanted them and they remained almost unchanged for the next two decades. But his fame turned to infamy in 2013 when he was arrested twice in connection with attacks on children dating back to the 1980s. In 1960 his single "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport" reached number 1 in Australia, and in 1969 "Two Little Boys" reached number 1 on both the Irish and UK charts. Harris moved to England in 1952 [5] and became an art student at City and Guilds of London Art School in South London, aged 22.
