It probably didn't help my overall opinion of the story that I'm firmly in the "Near will always be the lesser L" camp. There are two longer stories within this collection, one near the beginning and one right in the very end. Ryuk says that he was the one who said everything online was tracked but Minoru responds by saying he wasn't going to use the net. We understand that not everyone can donate right now, but if you can afford to contribute, we promise it will be put to good use.

The initial setup of “what would you do if you had this kind of power” intrigued me back in the day, especially since we were getting it from the perspective of someone as flawed as Light Yagami. Overall, I think it goes without saying that Death Note Short Stories is strictly recommended to fans of Death Note. It was a good short story that shows the long-lasting effect of the Death Note being used in the main series. Minoru then asks Ryuk to move away from his face, but Ryuk ignores this and states that he may be "suited" for a certain job.The Chapter then time-skips to 2019, and shows a high schooler named Minoru Tanaka sitting on his bed and leaning on the wall. It was fun to get more Deathnote, I had already read the C-Kira short story in the All in One edition of Deathnote so I skipped over that, but when I first read it I loved seeing how things were going so long after the events of the main story.

The main difference in this pilot is that there is a "Death Eraser" than can revive the victims of the Death Note if they have not yet been cremated, which is an interesting idea that's unfortunately abandoned in the completed series. While most of the stories in this volume are far from being something new, it is a great addition to have all of them in one place, especially now that they are all available in English. Overall all the stories were great and added more depth to the world that has been established in the original novels.I hope we get to come back to this world again because I didn't realize how much I missed it until reading this volume. He stumbles upon a notebook entitled the "Death Note", a seemingly ordinary book with incredible supernatural abilities.

And maybe he did – there was a sexy Nazi werewolf cub, after all – but if so, I've never been able to find out exactly what. The first is set in more of a modern setting which causes complications in that surveillance and technology have advanced to the point of making it difficult for the new death note holder to get what they want. Seriously, I was one poxy volume off completing Hellsing when it suddenly went from one of the series pretty much every library had, to one which had vanished as thoroughly as if the creator had done something dreadful. I finished reading this one already when I reread Death Note through Death Note: All-in-One edition a few years ago.

It would have been nice to see some different representation considering the portrayal of the holders of the Death Note in the original series. I’m one of those Death Note fans who bought a black notebook in the mid-2000s and wrote “Death Note” in white paint on the cover. The "yonkomas" or four-panel comics, are relatively random, just self-contained gag pieces that live outside the canon of the original story.

Y no hay mejor forma de hacerlo que con historias alternativas, breves en este caso, pero igual de atrapantes. This section shows small parts of the lives of the main characters in Death Note told through a four-panel humorous comic style. For the most part, this wasn't a problem, but I'd advise anyone who hasn't read the original series at all to steer clear of this volume because it includes major spoilers. Minoru states that despite that, the smart students are the ones that get good grades on actual tests, and says that idiots like him only waste time playing IQ quiz apps and listening to music. If you ever wondered what it takes to use the Death Note or fight it, you will find the answers in this collection. Outside of Kira-centric stories, we also have two L-centric shorts, entitled ‘The Wammy’s House’ and ‘One Day’.
