Socrates never left behind any written texts (mostly because he hated writing, saying it would damage our memory).

When You Know Nothing but Think You Know Everything

We want to help our community find and shine their inner light – the truth of love, light, and positivity that is within us all! From my point of view, all religion and philosophy seeks to find an answer to a question that cannot be answered in life: what happens after we die? The meaning of Socrates’ reflections in the phrase “all I know is that I know nothing” consisted of two paradoxical things. But in their rejection of reasoning as a fundamental goal, they are one group of thinkers that help put China on a different cultural trajectory from that of Socrates, Plato’s and the others in the West who follow their lead. But it seems reasonable to believe that he was either admitting his ignorance or acknowledging human knowledge’s fallibility. The basis of the DKE effect: The less competent you are at something socially or intellectually, the more confident you will be in your abilities in that area. What he found was that poets didn’t know why their words moved people, craftsmen only knew how to master their trade and not much else, and politicians thought they were wise but didn’t have the knowledge to back it up. I only have a cursory understanding of Taoism, but the comment “What he desires is non-desire; what he learns is to unlearn” in regards to Taoist masters, resonated with me. This was good and bad - good because I hate to not finish books and there's no way I would've finished this if I had to dedicate 100% of my attention to it, as opposed to listening whilst travelling, cleaning etc. For another, the job she turns out to have been hired for—leading an investigation her new boss doesn’t feel he can entrust to his own force—makes her queasy.

In audio form, I found Dolly frustrating, whiney and self-indulgent where I might have taken the written format more light heartedly. A know-it-all may spend the majority of the time talking about himself (or herself) and personal accomplishments. It’s difficult to say for sure what Socrates meant when he said, “all I know is that I know nothing. I only gave it 2 stars because most of the book was great until u get to around 80% and you find out what was really going on. It’s interesting that Socrates does seem to have an unbending faith that rational examination is still worthwhile.I’ve enjoyed Dolly’s writing in The Sunday Times magazine in the past, but this collection of “hilarious” anecdotes of her making poor choices in men and doing drugs/getting drunk while seemingly not learning much left me feeling frustrated.
