De schrijfstijl blijft wel echt fantastisch, dus als Jane weer een nieuw boek uitbrengt, ga ik die gewoon weer enthousiast lezen!

In fact, she could well be one of the characters who populate her snappy, clever fiction that just seems to slip down like a glass of nicely chilled white wine (she’s been a fan of Fay Weldon since she was a teenager and adores writing that feels as effortless as conversation). I actually handed in a book for the first time and that was a big, strange kind of flood of confidence that I had… I think for a lot of women around that age – 45 onwards – you change a lot. There are literally two things that are going to happen to all of us: we’re going to get older every single day and we’re going to die.Jane is known as the revenge queen, but I really think the dialogue queen is more fitting, because the dialogue is truly masterful in this book. She then concocts a plan, to accidentally meet Ant in real life without revealing who she really is. She's planning to confess all to Ant, the man she's been happily dating for a few months, but then she finds out that he's in the midst of a much bigger indiscretion when she discovers messages from other women, ones he's communicating with at the same time as seeing her.

Just Got Real is a book I didn't want to end but it had to, and like another book I've read recently, although there is romance in there, it's very much about female empowerment, with or without a partner in tow.We couldn’t drink alcohol at that rate and still manage to do all the different takes, so the alcohol was all fake, as were the cigarettes. Ant to force a meeting in person, at which point she used a fake name and had to change her phone number so Ant didn't put two and two together. But it doesn’t take long for her to realise that he is still online dating and intimately texting other women.
