Still, a paragraph at the very end of the book totally changed the way I saw this book, for the better.

In terms of what he is advocating for and what he aims to inspire people to do, this book is another banger.Especially if you intend to thrive in a harsh world where you have to work for everything that matters.

Dislikes: Very similar to his first book (which I preferred), many aspects to his mindset are not relatable, repetitive, difficult listening at times as he seems to be an individual who enjoys punishing himself rather through working with and through his issues. In general, ‘Never Finished’ had plenty of stories of David and his personal life, the obstacles and how he overcame them with a number of pearls of wisdom. When you are working toward a goal that is important to you and things don't go your way, never let anyone see it bring you down.It might be a good read for someone with a big goal, such as running their first marathon, to get you psyched up. Thank you David Goggins for being willing and able to share your life and put so much effort into its final format. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

David Goggins is as he states “uncommon amongst the uncommon” and while a lot of self statements are a bit exaggerated, Id say he is painfully accurate on this. Thanks to the author’s genuine, evocative narration, Never Finished is a like a boot camp for your brain. Your enemy rejoices in his exile because he thrives in barren isolation; that is the only way he has learned how to cope and survive. Buckling them in a firefighting stint (tearing multiple ligaments etc), and decides to commit to running the Moab 240 again later that year with help of a talented physio. Overall, a book I highly recommend if you want to read an inspirational story about a man who has faced many difficulties in life and has come out of it with determination and grit to tell his story.I believe there are people that are put here to elevate our expectations and redefine what’s possible for the rest of us, and David Goggins is the best example of that idea that I’ve ever come across in my life. I don’t mean to suggest that you must run one hundred or two hundred miles to believe you have what it takes to get where you want to go. There is great beauty when you are involved in something that is so hard most people want it to end.

This is a cut above the majority of self-help books, there’s no pretentious advice, no fluff and no BS. No matter how badass and successful you think you are, trust me, there is a semi coming around a blind curve, ready to smack you in the fucking mouth when you are comfortable as all hell. Never Finished is about mental grit, becoming dedicated to discipline, and giving your all, to all things you commit to.
