In my opinion, period or costume drama is best watched in a series form (although it can be a long one) because you will see the character's background and their development and you get to know the character's story. The film is visually stunning and packed with fantastic martial arts fight scenes, fanciful costumes, and epic sets. Yen also produces alongside veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Jing and stars as Qiao Feng — whose name provides the film’s Chinese title — a tragic hero accused of killing his adoptive parents. One of the book’s most famous scenes, in which Qiao walks right into a council meeting held by his former allies and long-time enemies, who are all swearing to kill him, is brought to particularly bloody life.
