We don't really have all that many Japanese mysteries translated into English, which is too bad, because they are the only modern mysteries I find readable. It looks like not only had Kinue been killed, but that the murderer made off with her entire torso -- and its grand tattoo. Yes, The Tattoo Murder Case is also a mystery novel with this kind of silly tease (as it's quite clear there will be an incident, and that this person will soon enough be in no condition to reveal what he knows or anything else . But when these names are each found tattooed on the backs of three murder victims, they are steppingstones on a murder trail that baffles Scotland Yard investigators….

When one of these women finally snaps and murders her husband, while their children sleep in the next room, she enlists the help of her colleagues to cut up and hide the body. Kenzo is a detective-fiction fan, with repeated references to that -- including him at one point: "lolling glumly about in the room eating black-market Hershey Bars and reading The Three Coffins by John Dickinson Carr" -- so the expectation is, of course, of a typical seemingly impossible locked room mystery -- so too even after the next dead body turns up. On the night of their wedding, they are murdered by a mysterious assailant who flees into the night, leaving nothing but a handprint and a bloodied katana in the snow. I stumbled upon this book while looking for a different Japanese murder mystery and am eternally grateful. In her youth, she had a brief tryst with a boy who revealed himself to be too intense and strange, and so she broke it off.CAST - 4 stars: "Boy Genius" Kyoshuke Kamizu enters the story after the half-way mark and solves it all: I think he's the main character in the rest of the series. In the 1950s, he photographed the greatest tattoo artists of the time, their clients and their tattoos, thus creating an archive that is as unseen as it is rare. Such a twisty whodunnit narrative with engaging red herrings hinged with complex and intriguing list of suspects— I fancy Dr Tattoo the most as his obsessiveness was somehow so wicked and intimidatingly appealing. With our team of dedicated reviewers we provide readers with insightful critiques that not only delve into the narrative but also its cultural significance.

The Tattoo Murders (2021) - The Movie Database (TMDB)

Sanki Akimitsu Takagi bir yanında Agatha Christie, diğer yanında Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ile oturmuş yeni yazacağı kitabı tartışıyor. The Tattoo Murder Case -- now re-published simply as The Tattoo Murder -- is set in just-post-war Tokyo, beginning in the summer of 1947. The fact that the copyright page acknowledges that the novel is not only translated but also: "adapted by Deborah Boehm" should be a warning sign; all translation is adaptation, but if they actually admit it (and/or warn readers) like this it's clear that there has been mire fiddling with the text than usual. But I think their budget got over after the snacks and drinks at occasion of deciding the name and location of story. I was the willing and got a chance to really get into a different facet of my personality and hopefully give the audience a different shade of my acting.

The cops examine bodies and murder weapons with bare hands and broadly declare that a case is solved. There are two key elements that make the best mystery novels so compelling (aside from the murder and the question of whodunnit), and those are the cast of eccentric characters and the setting. And the investigation is precisely that part of the book that I liked least, too slow and cumbersome, full of explanations, instead of facts that follow one another, free to be imagined by the reader. The translation is done well enough that the essence of the dialog and the plot comes through as does the nature of the characters. The prejudice and skepticism were greatly highlighted that it amazes me on how certain people would go blindly judging others with tattoo to be a thief or murderer or a lowlife scum.

C’è chi dà e chi riceve: si possono chiaramente vedere, in quest’atto, le due facce di una stessa medaglia. There was no way for you to escape from the psychological locked room constructed in your own minds. This is a complex and angry feminist Japanese novel, a revenge tragedy against patriarchal oppression, and one of the best Japanese novels of the 20th century. This book is set in a large apartment complex in Tokyo, every resident of which is a woman with a secret. The raw intensity and the poise with which she carries off the role and pulls the audience by the scruff, is inescapable.
