Updated by Ajay Aravind on July 25, 2023: Disney is mega-popular, and its princesses are almost synonymous with the company. Knowing she couldn't defeat the dragon alone, the Worst Princess gathered a team of misfits who were also considered the worst at what they did. Every princess story starts off with girl in waiting for her prince who soon comes, takes her away, and they live happily ever after.

Princess Sue, the prince and the dragon are literally the only main characters shown; simple and on point, working in the short story's favour. So when the Tangled had Rapunzel run away from her tower after being locked away for years, it seems like a moment of freedom. She prefers to comb through shipwrecks to collect lost artifacts from us two-legged types rather than participate in the relics of royal ceremonies.Unfortunately, as with most things in the spotlight, Disney princesses have received their fair share of criticism. They flew off together (not before setting the prince's bum on fire) to have adventures of their own and annoy stupid royals and knight. Teachers could show this book to kids that are having trouble with being "normal" and show that it is ok to be who they are. How I Will Use: I think this a great book to teach children how to live outside of the norms that society teaches us. That's not saying people shouldn't be their own person, especially for someone like Merida who's inspired countless cosplays and fan art. She is the illustrator of many books including Dogs Don't Do Ballet, Rhinos Don't Eat Pancakes and The Worst Princess.This may stem from the fact that Aurora spends most of the film asleep, but some argue that the titular character should have more of a role in the movie.

There's a common theme in Disney princess-oriented films and it usually revolves around the girls seeing a guy they never met and immediately thinking he's the one. Sure, Cinderella is a hard worker, forges a bond with cute little animals, and exhibits grace against devastating hardships and losses, but the fact that she supposedly falls head over heels (pun intended) with her prince after a single dance with him is a hard pill to swallow. There is so little books on the market for little girls that have role models or as good a role model as you can get for a little child who loves to read books. My daughter was given this book as a gift from her nursery teacher when she graduated just before she started school.

However, when a prince finally does come, she finds that he has stereotypical viewpoint of what Sue should do with her time. So, despite the fantastic nature of her circumstances, this sisterly narrative is grounded in reality.
