the reason I say forget easifill and go for ready mixed, is that if you are a diy-er, it is very hard to get the consistency right. I have thought about simply applying a bead of Fibacryl along the crack (without widening it or raking anything out) and spreading that with a knife on top of the existing filler.

I imagine I'd have to use it sparingly as it won't be flush to start with and I understand I cannot sand Fibacryl? I have concerns about raking all the filling out along the crack yet again in case I just end up doing more damage.
