Description

The accessories and mounting hardware are in separate boxes while the heatsink and fan are in another. Looking at the chart above, we can see that the NH-C14S with one fan is about one Celsius cooler than the old This heatsink kept up with the big boys. If you want a blow-down heatsink to cool your CPU and your RAM, the NH-C14S does a remarkable job. Additionally, there is room for most RAM, even with the fan in a pull position. In the end, I'm quite happy with the results - I can fit the fan on top, and it fits in my tight case.

The added bonus is that, with the fan on top config, air blows down on your motherboard, keeping other components cooler (in addition to the CPU). CPU-Z will be used to verify the CPU speed and the voltage being used in Windows 7. Also, the coolers are tested with theLooking at the full load temperature, the NH-C14S with one fan was about 1 degree Celsius cooler than the NH-C14. The contents were laid out in a straightforward manner, and the instructions were easy to understand. As usual, Noctua’s mounting system, the SecuFirm2™ Mounting Kit, was easy to use. All of the testing is done with an ambient temperature of ~19C. All of the coolers are run with their fan speeds at default.

Noctua's NF-A14 PWM fan is much better and more efficient than the NF-P14 fan that shipped with the NH-C14 so you can expect better cooling performance while being much quieter. Technical Specifications Heatsink SpecificationsThe biggest change with the NH-C14S, design-wise, is the additional heatpipe in the middle of the heatsink. In our next chart we have sorted each CPU cooler from highest to lowest by the number of heatpipes they have.

The improved top-flow design of the NH-C14S allows for a much lower profile than today's 140mm tower-style coolers and it also Well done indeed to Noctua’s R&D team! Not too sure how, but Noctua seemed to have done it again with an improvement of 6 degrees C over the original NH-C14, on top of that, only a single fan is mounted on the new NH-C14s as opposed to two. Conclusion The only negative that some people might have with Noctua's products in general is the color scheme which might not be a problem for some of you but for modders it could be a deal breaker. it stable with using ~1.25 volts and you will probably get much better temperatures than I did so keep that in mind. Physical AttributesOf course, any 140mm fan with a square frame will mount to the NH-C14S, but we are sent the NF-A14 PWM fan to cool this fin array. This fan spins on an SSO2 bearing, with a maximum speed of 1500 RPM, but is also able to drop down to just 300 RPM on the low-end of the scale. The NF-A14 can also deliver 140.2 cubic meters of air per hour. Converting that, we find it is close to half the stated value when comparing to CFM, so near 70 give or take. It is nice to see that these fans will spin for up to 150,000 hours, but it is better to see that the entire cooler comes with a six-year warranty. Each test run was 60 minutes in duration. The last 50 minutes of each run was measured, and the temperature logs were analyzed in Open Office spreadsheets. An Intel chip reports its temps in one degree increments, so for best accuracy these reports should be averaged in aggregate. Here the core temps were measured once a second, resulting in 3000-line spreadsheets. The digital thermometer measuring air temp reported its measurements in increments of 0.1 °C. The ambient temperature was measured every five seconds, resulting in 600-line spreadsheets. The mean ambient temp was subtracted from the mean core temps, resulting in a net temp for each run. The net temps were then averaged.
