Description

When you only have a handful of stompy mechs on the board, it’s important that they each excel in their chosen role. The upcoming Chaos Knights Army Set offers you dozens upon dozens of different loadouts for the forces within – and thanks to these flexible build options, you can reign supreme across the Shooting phase, the Fight phase, and even the Psychic phase. The Stalker, Karnivore and Brigand stray further from the holy STC of the Armiger, cursed machines haunted by Pterrorshade warp entities. The Karnivore is given over entirely to melee slaughter and the Brigand to close-range firepower, while the Stalker freely mixes armament. As we saw in the announcement at AdeptiCon , the War Dog Karnivore is a dedicated melee monster, equipped with a reaper chaintalon for sweeping away lesser chaff and a slaughterclaw for crushing hard targets. Unburdened by ammunition stowage, the Karnivore’s impetuous spirit also gives it an extra burst of speed, so it won’t be left languishing in no man’s land.

Since the Chaos Knights book dropped, a completely revised set of Forge World Knight rules has been published. You can find our hot-take review of them here.Bow waves of horror and despair roll before the advance of the Knights Desecrator. With every ground-shaking footfall the enemy know that their doom draws closer, for these malefic war engines hunt their prey with a spite-fuelled efficiency that is monstrous to behold.

When you select a PSYKER unit to manifest psychic powers, you select one psychic power that unit knows and attempt to manifest it. With the exception of Smite, you cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once in the same battle round, even with different PSYKER units. The same PSYKER unit cannot attempt to manifest Smite more than once during the same battle round. Before the rise of the Imperium of Man, when the first human galactic civilization fell into Long Night, each and every humanworld stood alone, easy prey fordeadly xenos and more sinister things lurking in the dark between stars. Yet throughout this time of suffering, the Imperial Knight Houses stood proud. On top of the three models, you also get an exclusive version of the Codex and Datacards, making this the first way for players to be able to experience all the new Chaos Knight goodies, including the brand new Knight Abominant. TheChirurgeon: Even at 340 points for a unit of 10 Desolation Marines are very playable – but you’ll probably just take the one. That’s still more than enough indirect, Oaths-and-Bolter Discipline-buffed firepower to throw out from behind the safety of some wall. The Teeth That Hunger: Relic reaper chainsword – AP-4 and you get +1A with it, but you roll a dice and take a MW on a 1 at the end of any Battle Round where it didn’t kill something. Would be great if you ever saw reaper chainswords.

OPTION 2: The Tower of Terror

The Valiant basically falls down on those grounds as well. The goal with a Chaos Knight detachment is to sneak in three full fledged LOWs as cheaply as possible so you still have room for some Lords Discordant or a Daemon bomb, and spending 600pts on a big hefty boi just doesn’t contribute to that. In more casual games it’s probably be fine as either Infernal (to get the damage boost on the flamer) or Iconoclast (taking the Veil of Merengard and re-roll 1s to wound against vehicles so the Harpoon is one-shotting a tank a turn), but it’s done nothing on the top tables. Knight Desecrator Ion Aegis: A Knight Tyrant can grant a a 5++ in a 6″ “wholly within” bubble instead of moving. Imperial ones can do this too. They don’t. Moving on. Finally, in some games Infernal Quest can be OK – Knights can struggle to hold objectives, so if you’re heavily in on them giving one ObSec can be useful. Relics
