These days, I am a fan of controlling mousepads. I used to gravitate towards speed a bit more, but with mice becoming a lot lighter and the quality (and speed) of feet improving by leaps and bounds I’ve been moving towards the more controlling side. This pad gives me just enough grip and control when doing small movements and micro adjustments so that I can carry those out with precision, but once I move towards a big swipe there’s nothing of that muddy/sandpaper-like feeling that you often get with control pads. You might think that you can just use any ol’ mousepad (or even just play on your desk) but that’s not true, at least not for shooter games. In MOBAs (where mouse precision is of less importance) we do see some pros who don’t use a mousepad, but over 99% of professional shooter players are using a gaming mousepad over a regular office pad.

It’s very obvious that the Saturn Pro is a high quality product. Thanks to the supple materials used and the fact that it ships flat rather than rolled up, the pad lays perfectly flat on your desk right from the very first time that you put it down. As a little side note: the glide of cloth pads can be affected by a number of factors, including how clean the surface is, the humidity in the air, the age of the pad, and your playing style. As such, your experience with a certain mousepad can be drastically different from what someone else is experiencing. This makes the search for a perfect pad a little bit more difficult, but it’s not as if a control pad is suddenly going to turn into a speed pad or anything like that, so hopefully this guide aids you in your choice.There is a30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. I know that these things are subjective, so whether you like this gliding experience or not will depend on your personal preferences, but for me this is very close to perfection. On to the most important aspect of a mousepad, then: the glide. There’s no doubt that the Saturn Pro is a control pad. There’s a lot of static friction, and it takes quite a bit of force to get your mouse moving for a big swipe. Once you’re moving it flows rather effortlessly, though. It’s nothing like a dedicated speed pad of course, but the gliding feeling is way smoother than what you get on dedicated control pads like the ZOWIE G-SR. You can use the spudger or knife on its own without using the hairdryer, especially if you're unsure of how long to heat the feet up by. This may leave traces of glue on the bottom of the mouse however, which will need to be removed before attaching the new mouse feet.When you're looking to switch out your skates, you’ll need to choose replacements that fit your specific model of mouse due to each mouse having a different layout on its base where the skates are installed. The exception being brands who use the same mouse chassis for multiple models, but that will be mentioned on the skates product description. What you’ll see here is that most pros are using fairly large mouse pads, at least when compared to regular office mats. That’s because the overall sensitivity/ eDPIof pro (shooter) players is way lower than that of most casual gamers. This gives them way more control over their aim and overall just makes for a more consistent and reliable aiming experience when compared to extremely high sensitivities where it’s nearly impossible to make any micro adjustments to the aiming reticle. Even if you feel like you don’t need a large mousepad we would recommend getting one if you have the space for it; it’s always better to have some spare space for your mouse movements than to have to run into the edge of your playing surface in the heat of battle.

I know that mousepads are very subjective: we can comment on things like the stitching, surface uniformity, and so on, but when it comes down to it the glide is what matters most, so I won’t say that you needto get this (or any other Lethal Gaming Gear) pad. I will say that this is the best of its kind I’ve tested so far. Additionally, cloth mousepads tend to have a more forgiving surface than hard mousepads, which can help to reduce wrist strain and fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

If you’re even a bit serious about your gaming it’s a great idea to get yourself a nice pad to really complete your setup. The List People often think that all cloth mousepads have the exact same glide, but that’s a common misconception. The Zowie G-SR is living proof of that. When compared to (most) other cloth gaming mousepads this one offers a very controlling glide with a pretty large amount of surface friction. This won’t please everyone (then again, no product does) but it is a great option for people who have a tendency to use large, aggressive swipes or for gamers who often find themselves overshooting their target.
