Description

I don't really like the cover-this book is aimed towards teenagers and the cover looks quite childish-but I really liked the stories of other people's anxiety that were dotted around the book and how the author took the time to explain everything in a clear way. Starving the Anxiety Gremlin is a unique and award-winning workbook designed to help young people understand different types of anxiety and how to manage them. Personally I feel Anxiety UK offers a fantastic service which fills that much needed gap between being referred to NHS and your actual appointment time which nowadays due to Covid can be up to a year in waiting time. Messages with such content will not receive a response and your use of this service will be terminated if you use content that violates our zero tolerance policy. Bringing to life communication difficulties that impact socialization and learning, this book removes the guesswork by offering practical solutions and classroom-tested strategies.

We usually don’t feel anxious all the time, but when we do we can sometimes struggle to understand why we might be feeling that way. Social Thinking has helped more than 1 million educators, clinicians, and families teach social learners essential life skills including social-emotional learning and self-regulation. The Information Book Award is an annual event, in its fifth year and is a major development for information books, being designed to support school libraries and to reinforce the importance of non-fiction whilst highlighting the high standard of resources available. Engaging and fun activities as well as real life stories from other young people show how our thoughts are related to our behaviour and emotions, allowing young people to understand why they get stressed, the effects of stress and how to 'starve' their Stress Gremlin! Written in a very clear and accessible manner, it allows the reader to focus on specific sections rather than having to work through the book from cover to cover. This workbook is designed to teach practical strategies, based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy principles (CBT), for taming and starving one’s anxiety.

Part of the award-winning Starve the Gremlin series and full of engaging activities, this self-help workbook explains what exam stress is, how it develops and the impact it can have - providing the reader with an understanding of their own exam stress. I worked through this with my daughter who struggles with anxiety, and there were some helpful tips in here. One of the best parts of any of the three books in the Gremlin series in the real-life stories from others struggling with the same challenges. This informative workbook is easy to read and fun for a young person aged 10+ to complete either on their own or with the help of a parent or practitioner.Starving the Anxiety Gremlin is a well-written comprehensive workbook that helps readers identify the sources of their anxiety and learn effective ways of coping.
