Description

On the surface, she is an Arendellian village girl, an aspiring inventor, and the best friend of Prince Agnarr, but she is also secretly Northuldra. An origin tale focusing on the diabolical Odd Sisters reveals the dark truth about who they really are and where they came from. Although I didn’t love the writing style since it read very young, the dialogues were drawn out immensely and involved a lot of repetitions, the book still managed to lull me in very quickly.

However, so far this series, even though it's still Disney and not that deep, kept on surprising me. But when her mother gives her the original Katrina van Tassel's diary on the two-hundredth anniversary of the Headless Horseman's haunting, a new legend begins to take shape, weaving together the past and the present in eerie ways. Or better yet, maybe make better use of Circe because since she is named after the witch from Greek mythology who trapped and cursed Odysseus and his crew in "The Odyssey. Felt bad for Hook, but I did enjoy the story overall and how all the pieces were put into place at each step of Hook's journey.

Fans will delight in being reunited with some of their favorite Valentino characters, and there is also great humor in this story. Hardcover editions of Books 1-3 of Valentino's Villains series--Fairest of All, The Beast Within, and Poor Unfortunate Soul--are collected in this boxed set that includes a sneak peak of Book 4, Mistress of All Evil. The fifth installment of Valentino's Villains series retells the story of Mother Gothel, the old witch who kept Rapunzel in a tower. Not only do Valentino’s stories give readers the opportunity to explore villains they know and love, readers are also introduced to new characters that operate behind the scenes of classic Disney plots, giving tales-as-old-as-time a bewitching new twist. Six hundred years old, the secrets of her construction long forgotten, the massive vessel dwarfs every other sailing craft in the world.

Sera Lighthaven has always felt as if she didn’t quite belong among her people, the Cerulean, who live in the city above the sky. She hires a PI to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman.

Obviously this focuses on Captain Hook's story, his background, where he came from and all that, more than it does Peter Pan. To the annoyingly clever, temptingly handsome, and altogether troublesome Earl of Wynbrook, society ladies are a dead bore. Depending on the age it's meant for, I obviously understand the story isn't going to delve into certain things. Valentino does a great job stepping into the shoes of each of these villains but I think as the series continues, I just find myself wanting more. Here is one version of the story that has remained untold for centuries--a tale of mothers and daughters, youth and dark magic.
