And as the two built a new life together, Beata’s past would stay with her in ways she could never have predicted. Fans of LOST will really get a kick out of this one, but like its counterpart be prepared for thousands of question and only a few answers at this time. The pacing was kind of slow, but the writing was good enough and the plot interesting enough that I kept reading.

Man, the synopsis really didn’t do this book any justice, giving the reader the barest of bare-bones ideas of what Echoes is really about. As Binchy's second novel, it explores various themes of Irish small-town life, including social classes and expectations, the paucity of educational opportunities before the introduction of free secondary education in 1967, and women's roles. Rose and the Burma Sky is her second novel and was inspired by a conversation with her grandmother while they were watching a war film in which all the soldiers were white. I find it interesting trying to make it in the wild all alone and Miles and Fiona had to work to survive. Her development, particularly in the aspect of her fear of authority, is shaky, but I give it points for the attempt. With so many twists and turns and no clear idea of what’s here or there, or anywhere, Echoes kept me guessing until the very end. Maeve Binchy received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Book Awards in 1999 and the Irish PEN/A. Paranoia and conspiracy aren’t sustainable vibes in the long term, and the longer the book went on, the less I cared about the answers.

Overall, I think there's a sequel considering the ending but still, I think I won't be reading it since I don't want to get any further headache. The only downfall is that she’s sharing the experience with her arch-nemesis, Miles, a swaggering rich boy who goes out of his way to humiliate her at school. Fiona and Miles are not my favorite characters ever and, truthfully, there are flaws in this story plus I could do without some of the teen angst, but I truly do think this is a tale worth a few hours of a reader’s time. Even at fifteen, David Power knew the echo would answer eleven-year-old Clare O'Brien's dearest wish, to win a school prize.

Before we'd talk to them, listen to why we ended up on the island and what would happen next, there was one thing I felt needed to be said. Echoes is a beautiful and inspiring book with stories and knits that will stay with readers for a lifetime! There is a decent, loving priest who we meet in the story later on who is what all ministers should be. All they have to survive is eachother and they discover that them being stranded seems too convienant. I got sent this book in exchange for a honest review, all my opinions are my own and thank you so much to the publishers for sending me this book! When she's not working, Sarabeth hosts the My Nights Are Booked Podcast and a blog dedicated to books and interviews with authors and actors. Thus begins a harrowing journey of survival, as she escapes into the heart of the French Resistance. Given the show’s concept, it’s easy to see why people would assume Echoes is based on a book or that some of the books featured in the show are real. Sharing never-before-told anecdotes – including the heady Rockfield Studio sessions and touring across the US, playing sold-out shows at Whisky a Go Go and experiencing the iconic New York club scene from dusk ’til dawn – and accompanied by snapshots of the cultural, social and political scene at the time, this is a memoir to remember. They are not his normal milieu, the stunning images of Africa and further abroad for which he is renowned.
