Description

It is always a good idea to keep your filters clean with a cleaning accessory and this stands true with CPL’s. Sometimes at full polarization, the effect can look unrealistic so we suggest you back it off a bit for a slightly softer polarization. Rotating the filter whilst viewing the image through the LCD or viewfinder will demonstrate the effect in action. Not wanting to invest too many other numbers and trust the reviews, I gave this filter a try and have to say I was impressed with it.

A 72 mm polarizing filter to reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass or pollution in the atmosphere and enhance colour saturation for bluer skies and greener leaves. With older style filters, the light would reflect off the image sensor, bounce off the lens and filter elements and re-enter the image sensor, creating a ghost image. PL (Linear Polarising) and PL-CIR (Circular Polarising) filters have the same effect, but it is important that you choose the correct version for your camera. These filters are equipped with black rimmed glass to reduce the chance of light reflecting off the edge. While UV filters can often be attached to your lens and simply forgotten about, you may want to swap out your UV filter for an ND filter when out on a shoot.

The polarising filters' structure incorporates a polarising film, sandwiched between two pieces of glass. It helps to boost contrast and colour saturation by filtering out light which has become polarised by reflection. All B+W Filters carry a 12-month statutory warranty which assures that the product is fit for use and covered against any manufacturing defects.
