On an administrative level, a recently turned vampire named Reese—one of the first people Moon Knight saved through the Midnight Mission—became Mister Knight's assistant and right-hand woman. But then there are solo adventures with others, other confrontations we have him meet Tigra and the romance there plus he works for someone else. When Hunter's Moon made himself known, he breached the Mission and sought to kill Reese with her vampirized friends believing them natural enemies, but was brutalized and sent away by Moon Knight.

The Midnight Mission reminds me Jed Mackay's Black Cat series in that there's lots of fun action here, but very little exciting world-building. Reese then became the Midnight Mission receptionist and Moon Knight's right hand, the only job she could keep due to her imposed lifestyle change. So the issue starts with MK on a mission to save people at night and he meets Reese and all there and the drama there as another fist of Khonshu aka the Hunters moon is here and he fights MK and it's it's a fun fight and all. Maybe I'm just saying this because I got Oscar Isaac on the brain but Mr Knight was highkey hot in this.

Freed of his twisted mental programming by Leonard Hawley, the no-nonsense enforcer and former Hydra agent Soldier became another fixture within the Midnight Mission, going as far as to pose as Mister Knight when the mission was threatened. In an effort to drive the citizens of New York insane, Black Spectre turned the ground under Manhattan into a massive resonator capable of producing a madness-inducing frequency. The question is, how long do you pay on a debt when there's no one actually keeping a tab except you?

Moon Knight and his allies took the fight back to the villain, attacking Black Spectre's headquarters: the Mount. After deciding to reject the influence of Khonshu, the Ancient Egyptian God of Vengeance and source of his powers, Moon Knight decided to help travelers of the night in his own way. Mackay is fast becoming a name for me to watch at Marvel - his Moon Knight already looks set to stand next to his Black Cat as one of my favourite Marvel titles in recent years.

I have to admit that I needed some adjustment time to get used to the narrative style and storytelling approach; however, once I settled in, it was really fun to read. Nice art, like the idea of MK having this mission where people from the neighborhood could bring their problems to him and he would go out and handle it. And just in time too as a number of done-in-one-issue-sized threats for him to deal with have conveniently started to pop up! Together, they form a small army composed of the souls of former avatars of Khonshu, who join forces with Marc Spector in battle.

It’s not clear why Moon Knight sometimes appears interchangeably as Mr Knight and Moon Knight either.
