Optimus then returned to America in Stratosphere with the other Autobots and the humans, having found the ability to trust in them should they face any future threats. His innate faith in humanity reignited by Cade and his family and friends, Optimus entreated the humans to think of one of the stars as his soul, and instructed the Autobots to guard the Yaegers, their allies, and all the humans they could.

The newly tooled legs also feature unreasonably long pegs to secure their connection in vehicle mode. They have a tendency to snap off over time, though this doesn't affect the toy too much.

Optimus was supposed to combine with a trailer for Revenge of the Fallen, something for which Ben Procter and Josh Nizzi drew up designs. In the end, Nizzi designed the combination with Jetfire. Arriving on Dragonstorm, Optimus finally destroyed Infernocus by decapitating all six Infernocons in a single mighty swing of his sword, reminding them that he was Optimus Prime.
