First of all let me say yes, it's a good looking statue with an iconic pose and the lighting looks nice. Before receiving it, I thought it would be a 5 star piece for sure. However after having seen 5 samples (including 3 regular editions) and having smashed 2 of them, I do need to point out some quality concerns. And, of course, I am still waiting for them to make one of Krystal from Star Fox; specifically, one in her outfit from Assault. While a lot of depictions have her in her tribal outfit from Adventures, I much prefer her outfit from Assault. But I'll take either.

The Zero Suit was first seen in Metroid: Zero Mission, ending sequences of Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime Hunters, and is making an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. First 4 Figures is happy to present a new series of Metroid Master Arts statues, starting with the Master Arts Metroid Prime 2 Light Suit. Samus is holding her arm cannon up, ready to fire as she storms the Sky Temple to defeat the Emperor Ing. She’s been rendered at a jaw-dropping 1/4 scale to encapsulate immense power that the Light Suit holds. She towers at 20 inches tall. I look forward to the Varia Suit EX (and the inevitable Dark Suit Samus) which I am assured will somehow surpass even this! The articulation range between the two is also very similar, nearly identical. This version has a little more engineering in it to allow it to move more, but it ends up being about the same amount as the previous Figma because the Prime armor is more bulky, thus requiring some clever work-arounds to achieve the same level of movement as the much sleeker Other M suit. Even the shoulder joints are the exact same! Whatever your outlook on the controversial Wii title, Figma's latest Nintendo-themed offering should be of interest. Zero Suit Samus is fully poseable and comes with interchangeable components and accessories, including a "thumbs up" hand: The statue is heavy and extremely well made. I give massive props to the QC team on this one. The statue looks amazing as is, but with the added electronics on the EX version, it really takes it to the next level. The way they've designed the base to transmit power to the DC connector on the foot, then through the statue and once again to another DC power connector on the right arm, where the cannon slips into place, is really clever! So, right off, no bullshit – Max Factory/Good Smile absolutely nailed it. Full disclosure: I’m a Samus fanboy, and this piece is going right in the shrine. You get an optional missile-firing arm cannon tip, three extra left hands, a morph ball…and the standard Figma stand. That’s it. Maybe Samus’ base body was just that much more expensive to produce, but it’s still a tough pill to swallow when TP Link gave us an entire armory.

I very strongly considered panel-lining all the details the way I did with my Other M Figma, but ultimately decided to leave it untarnished for now. I’m afraid of the panel lining being too stark and changing the look too much, since I like it so much as it is. Metroid: Other M is surely one of the most divisive entries in the long-running sci-fi series, with fans loving and loathing its representation of Samus Aran in equal measure. With its sleek design and resistance to the elements of Dark Aether, the Light Suit was one of the most powerful and important tools at Samus’ disposal as she set out on a mission to destroy the Dark Dimension. The suit was powered by the Light of Aether and was the result of both Luminoth and Chozo technology. Why Samus needed to be shot first and not the Metroid- The reason for Samus being shot at all begs the question.

The underside of the arm cannon is almost hyper-detailed compared to the rest of the figure. This is accurate though. Don't put Adam on a pedestal, just for a ridiculous sacrifice that didn't need to be. So he killed the experimented Metroids made by Feds, well a lot that did when there's a bloody Metroid Queen else where. Some diehard fan over at Nintendo/Max Factory/Good Smile must’ve suggested actual missiles as an accessory, but was fired for being too good for this world and replaced by some chump who then proceeded to throw out the idea that they should instead include a thumbs up hand, which Samus flashes once throughout the entire game – during the final ending game cutscene no less! First 4 Figures is extremely proud to present Samus Aran's Zero Suit, the third collectible statues in First 4 Figures highly anticipated suit series based on Retro Studios Metroid Prime game trilogy. This version is based on the Zero Suit seen at the end of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. Hah. No. What’s most interesting is that the instructions for this Figma make no mention of this feature, and it’s really just left up to intuition for those who’ve owned the previous Figma Samus. This arm cannon was designed to be modular with the old beam effects, and that’s all well and good for us who already own the previous Figma (kind of) but it ends up being nothing but a design compromise and missed play value to those who don’t.

From the Nintendo Switch game "METROID DREAD" comes a figma action figure of the main character, Samus Aran! Images: Nintendo Life / Nintendo Do you need amiibo to access the new Costumes from Booster Course Pass Wave 6?Modelled on Samus' appearance in MecurySteam's Metroid Dread, the figure is highly posable and comes with all of the added customisation options that we have come to expect from Good Smile's releases. From "METROID DREAD" comes figma Samus Aran: DREAD ver.! Featuring double-jointed knee joints, Morph Ball parts and more, this is a figma Metroid fans won't want to miss! Now, I’ve been mentioning the Other M Figma throughout this write up quite a bit, so I think it’s only fair we really get to see them properly compared.
