A 3 to 4 week unit using David Litchfield's beautiful picture book 'The Bear and the Piano'. We taught in Year 2 but I am sure it can be adapted for other year groups. It wouldn't let me upload any more files so just to say in the last week we then went on to write our own versions of the story, which the kids loved; we had a skateboarding bunny and a cello playing owl.Imagining they are the bear your child could write his diary for one day in the story – when he leaves home, misses his friends or realises they did remember him after all. Perform the story with music The author’s heroes and biggest influences are Albert Uderzo, Jon Klassen and Shaun Tan. Can you find out more about these people? Can you see any of their influences in this book? PRELUDE IN C – This was written by J.S Bach, a German composer, in the 1700s. Bach had 20 Children. Imagine Christmas day at his house!
