Description

This is a highly rated, informative, must-have makeup book for your collection. 3. Face Paint: The Story of Makeup by Lisa Eldridge This is actually a really good book, and is both image-heavy and content heavy. It's thorough and well-organized. It's also one of the only titles we found that includes a face map, which is a super-important took when you're starting out and learning makeup (and even when you've made it and know what you're doing). Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority by Melissa Schweiger A lot of the books on the list above show you completed looks and explain in text how to accomplish these ‘looks’. I teach you how to select the right products for you and where to apply them (through graphs)

10 Must-Have Makeup Books for the Makeup Lover - I Spy Fabulous

Plus, special bonus: the book is spiral bound. Why isn't every single book about makeup spiral bound? WHY? It's a huge plus, because it makes the book waaaaay easier use to use when you're practicing the techniques in the book. You won't have to weight both sides of the book down with a shoe or something.

Fabulous Discoveries

According to Jolene, to eat pretty is to choose delicious, healthy foods that help you look and feel better. To eat pretty is also to live well, optimizing your health and happiness with a balanced, beautifying lifestyle. She includes a helpful A-to-Z directory of more than 150 radiance-boosting foods that you can start working into your diet. Working on eye looks is a practice all its own, so this chart book dedicated to just eyes is a great way to practice. On top of that, the book also features an awesome 40-day food diary that you can use to start living your most beautiful life as well as a bunch of fun charts and lists to fill out, prompts for self-reflection, recipe cards, de-stressing techniques, sleep tips, and more. It’s fantastic! Makeup is defined as the craft of applying substances or products to transform the appearance of a person’s face or body part. This activity can have purely aesthetic purposes, to cover imperfections or simply to enhance the beauty of the face. However, there is also artistic makeup, for entertainment reasons, or makeup for cultural reasons such as that of certain aboriginal groups.

This is so fun, I could do this all day. These are the perfect combination of my love for books and love for makeup. Face Paint is a historical look at how we have used makeup to represent ourselves and understand each other socially. Classic Beauty: The History of Makeup” is an enchanting expedition into the captivating tale of cosmetics. It presents a mesmerizing voyage through diverse cultures and ages. Crafted by Gabriela Hernandez, this book chronicles the potent evolution of makeup, unearthing its roots from ancient societies to contemporary trends. Through compelling narratives and arresting imagery, readers are immersed in the artful heritage and cultural resonance of cosmetics, making it an essential addition for those enamored with the enduring charm of beauty traditions. The book itself is fantastic. So many makeup books look fantastic, but don't have any real substance. Chris Scott's book not only discusses various techniques, it provides step-by-step guidance on how to take care of your skin, prime lips and eyes and apply stains and shadows, and form a makeup strategy using model's various facial shapes. Chris supplements the book with a set of super-helpful how-to videos here. Make-Up Designory's Beauty Make-Up is pretty straight-forward---base, brows, eyes, cheeks, lips---but it includes sections on applying makeup to mature models, applying makeup via airbrush, and working with brides. You get the sense that they borrowed from their live classes to write the book, and that's a good thing. There's a (very) small chapter on actually working in the beauty biz, but it's not long enough for us to include it in our section titled...
