Description

A set of one hundred cards, split into two sets: resource cards and craft cards. Twenty-five of them are craft cards. The resource cards are split as follows: TNT: If a player mines a TNT card, it must be played immediately. The player must then take the top card of the other four resource piles, but are only allowed to keep two cards; only resource or "Wild" cards are allowed to be kept. Then, the TNT card and the other two cards drawn are put into the discard pile. If you choose to mine a card, you take it from one of the resource piles and add it to your hand. Resources come in numerous different types, and some are rarer (and thus more valuable) than others. Craft Once you have the crafted tool, you can use it. Using a device won’t count as an action, but a tool can only be used once. You still keep the craft card after you’ve used it, but it can’t be used again for the remainder of the game. To help outline the tool powers, we’ve listed them below.

The game immediately ends when one of the players have earned enough points from the Craft Cards that they have acquired. The number of points needed to win depends on the number of players: Finally, we have the infamous Creeper! If this card is mined, then every player must discard one of their resource cards. The only way to prevent discarding a card is to kill the Creeper if you have the sword tool. The Minecraft Card Game: Adventure Reinvented! Skip card – This card can only be played on a card of similar color or symbol (another Skip). When you play this card, the next player loses their turn, and play moves on to the following player, who must then match your Skip card with a card of the same color, or another Skip card. If turned up at the start of the game, the first player becomes “skipped” and loses his/her turn. Draw Two card – This card can only be played on a same color card or another Draw Two card. When you play this card, the next player must draw two cards from the Draw pile and miss their turn. If turned up at the start of play, the first player must draw two cards and skip their turn. You may keep any 2 of those cards. Then, discard the rest (along with the TNT card) into the discard pile. When a player mines a card and removes it from a pile, if they expose a Creeper card beneath it then ALL PLAYERS must discard a resource card of their choice. The Creeper card is then placed in the discard pile. When I reviewed Minecraft Builders & Biomes I commented on the fact that the Minecraft theme is not one that is a natural fit for board games. The game has so many different mechanics and things that you can do that I thought it would be hard to translate to a board game. I was actually surprised by how well Builders & Biomes adapted the theme to a board game. The same holds true for the Minecraft Card Game? as well even if it might not do quite as good of job. Instead of trying to bring in all of the different elements of the video game, it decides to focus on the resource gathering and crafting aspect of the game. While it is not exactly the same (the blueprints don’t always exactly match the video game), it actually does a surprisingly good job replicating this aspect of the game in a card game format. Honestly I don’t know how much more could have been done to create a card game that simulates Minecraft better.

Next, shuffle the craft cards and then deal them into four piles of six cards each, with the "crafting" side up. One card is left over, which is used for the discard pile. Wild cards have a number allocated to them as well. So, for example, a wild two-card can be used as two of any resource. However, the resources can’t be split, so they cannot be used as one stone and one diamond. The Minecraft card game is much easier to play than you might think. However, at first glance, it can look not very clear. This is because there are many cards included, similar to classic board games like Clue or Monopoly, so before we look at the rules, let’s outline the various cards. Resource CardsA Wild card may be used as any 1 type of resource. You may NOT split the value of the Wild card. For example, a Wild 3 card may be used as a 3 Diamond card or a 3 Wood card, but NOT a 2 Diamond card and a 1 Wood card in combination. The craft cards are the tools you can build in the Minecraft card game. Each tool is worth a set number of points, and they have one-time-use special abilities that can help give you an advantage during gameplay. Special Cards That is not to say that the Minecraft Card Game? is a strategy filled game. Instead it feels like your typical card game with a few more mechanics added in to add a little more strategy. In a lot of ways the game is similar to a lot of simple card games. Your decisions on any given turn are usually pretty obvious. Therefore you can play the game without putting a ton of thought into every individual decision. There are some points in the game where the decision you make will have an impact on the outcome though. I could actually see the game working pretty well as a gateway game. It is far from the best game that I have ever played, but I still enjoyed playing it and could see a lot of other people liking it as well. Shovel: When a player uses this tool they will choose another player who will lose one of their actions on their next turn.

When cards are blown up due to a TNT Card, sacrificed due to a Creeper Card or traded in when Crafting (more on all of this later), they go into the discard pile. All cards in the discard pile are placed FACE DOWN.If you want to craft something, you first will need enough resources to do so, and this can be seen by looking at the craft cards. So, to craft something, choose the craft card you want and trade in the required number of resource cards.
