sometimes you just need a nice couple hundred pager of someone getting absolutely railed by a gorgeous gorgeous man. JOLIE VINES is a romance novelist who lives in the South West of England with her husband and young son. But I am happy to report that she ages three years over the course of the book and by the end, feels like a grown woman. This book starts off with Ella and Gordain’s version of the events that happened in the second book. Both Ella and Gordain have baggage and issues with neither really believing that they are worthy of love.

After a beat, his footsteps moved away, then the ballroom’s double doors swung out with an unmistakable thud. But there is a spark between them from the very beginning and slowly they allow themselves to acknowledge there is much more beneath the surface. Gordain and Ella’s lives have been so heartbreaking but the way they grow and heal one another is so incredible. What we do get is a friendship that sees both Gordain and Ella building each other up, playing hero (and heroine) when necessary, all while realizing that falling in love cannot, and should not, be avoided. Ella has finally broken out of her gilded cage, but with her limited life experience, she doesn’t trust her instincts. His burning need for his best friend's younger sister is surely a knee-jerk reaction to his problems.

This book is about the younger brother of the Scottish Laird, Gordain who just happens to fall for the British Lord’s sister. On cramped limbs, I shrank back in the musty cupboard, the strip of daylight under the door slicing over my ballet flats.Ella is slightly younger than him and mixed with the fact that G is her older brothers best friend, this story gets very interesting extremely quickly! Jolie Vines is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors because she creates heroes whose angst comes from within, but it doesn’t keep them from loving the heroine of the story. As always, Vines has a deft hand with love scenes and paints a love story with characters who are hopeful, yet vulnerable. With each book in the series Jolie has grown the complexity of the story and its characters -each more vibrant and lovable than the one before it. I expected him to demand that I leave it—if he wanted to pick me up and throw me over his shoulder, I wouldn’t stand a chance.

His unhinged voice had come from the mansion’s central entrance hall, the echoes from the marble floors and high ceiling giving him away.If Richard showed up at the McRaes’ castle home—the location Gordain was flying me to—could he demand to take me away? I’m sure I’m in the heavy minority when it comes to this book, especially because it’s in the middle damn series but I’m going to give the review anyways.
