Pakistan: A Personal History is a 2011 book written by Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and former cricketer. Imran Khan, former cricketer turned politician, kicked off his book tour in Leicester last month (September 17, 2011). While noting that ‘ Islam gives all the freedom of a secular society – yet an Islamic state cannot be secular.

Imran Khan’s Pakistan: A Personal History takes a closer look at the country’s history and its politics. With candid storytelling and emotional depth, Imran Khan provides readers with a glimpse into the challenges he faced and the motivations that guided him on his path to success. Many of the incidents and quotations have been picked from various books including Imran’s The Autobiography, All-Round View and Indus Journey, plus various books written on/by Botham, Miandad, Atherton, Sobers and Parvez Musharraf.

There is another story of how Khan’s tips helped his brother-in-law Ben Goldsmith, who had lost about 10,000 pounds spread betting on cricket, recoup his losses. It is a very personal history Imran reminisces fondly about his privileged upbringing in Pakistan and his higher education in Oxford. He murdered the names of people and places and the way he recited the verse of Iqbal it was hilarious. At many situations, Miandad’s book Cutting Edge has been used as an instance where indirectly the (mis)understanding between the two is reflected and perhaps become debatable. We need to utilize our rational faculties and engage in scholarly discussion and reflection to find a solution to contemporary issues such as the blending of the positive aspects of Western culture with Islam.

He did this to pacify and please India and to present his credentials of faithfulness to the United States in accordance with his January 12 speech promises. He doesn’t use the words ‘fall in love” though he does say that he ‘ found her attractive and intelligent and was particularly impressed by her strong value system and the fact that despite her young age she already had a spiritual curiosity. The decisions he makes or defers, the things he does or doesn’t do could have lasting impact on the politics of Pakistan, even India and the rest of South Asia. For too long, Pakistan has been destroyed by people who don’t need politics…and its main problem has been institutional collapse.

He also collected the cricketing sources from different cricket administrations, Cricinfo and county clubs. I would recommend this book to anyone confused about the various players in Pakistan and Afghanistan. For western world he has given an insight , how Pakistan has been repeatedly used by the west and by the elites of the country for their own gains at the terrible cost of the country and her people. Therefore they are deeply suspicious of any attempt towards westernization – particularly women’s liberation. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

I would also recommend it to anyone confused about Islam to the outsider one doesn’t know what Islam is because on the one extreme there are various fundamentalist groups at war with themselves as much as against the West or the spiritual saints of the Sufi tradition who seem above all worldly and political affairs. Throughout we see these events viewed not only through the eyes of Westerners, but through those of ordinary Pakistanis. This book was written and published in 2009 by arguably one of finest biographer Christopher Sandford, who also wrote biographies of many great legends like ‘Primitive Tool’ on Mick Jagger in 1993, ‘Edge of Darkness’ on Eric Clapton in 1994, ‘Kurt Cobain’ in 1995, ‘Loving the Alien’ on David Bowie in 1996, ‘Satisfaction’ on Keith Richards in 2003 and ‘Polanski’ on Roman Polanski in 2007 in past couple of decades.Brazenly accusing his opponents with unprecedented levels of corruption, Imran’s party has gone from being a novice presence to one of the most defiant voices in the parliament’s opposition benches. In the book, Khan details Pakistan's history; his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf; and his own life and cricket career.
