Description

The progress in the phases seems much more regimented, so I think we’ll be “stuck” on stage 4 for quite a while…. Little Wandle Letters and Sounds 7+ offers 50 books designed for children in KS2 who need more practice to consolidate their phonic knowledge.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Parents will also be invited to attend a phonics meeting with the Phonics Leader in the Autumn Term.com/2014/06/09/teaching-your-child-to-read-book-bands-reading-schemes-and-early-readers/ quite helpful in showing how big the range can be. The old book banding system is organised by criteria matched to the 3 cueing method not to phonics and is pretty meaningless. The 7+ books in the Big Cat Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised series are designed for children aged 7+ who need more practice to acquire phonics skills.

It has enabled us to have training for everyone, offering a clear progression in phonics and reading and provision of what to do if children need extra support, through the Keep up, Catch up and SEND programs. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). We have a strong focus on language development for our children because we know that speaking and listening are crucial skills for reading and writing in all subjects. Find our full Reception and Year 1 teaching programme overview here to see what your child will learn and when.Children need to practice and secure their phonic decoding skills until they become automatic and fluent readers. Children leave Key Stage 2 as competent readers with a shared love of stories and a secure understanding of what they have read. Every teacher in our school has been trained to teach reading, so we have the same expectations of progress. Discuss the pictures, enjoy the story, predict what might happen next, use different voices for the characters, explore the facts in a non-fiction book. At Wooburn Green Primary School, it is our aim that every child will learn to read, no matter what barriers they may have to their learning.

Pupils are able to engage in discussions about plots and characters, recommend a book to a peer and evaluate an author's use of language and the impact this has on the reader.

Big Cat Phonics for Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised has been developed in collaboration with Wandle Learning Trust and Little Sutton Primary School. There may be a number of reasons why children in Year 2 and beyond are not yet able to decode confidently or read fluently. All children have daily opportunities to read a variety of material in school, including regularly with an adult. Reading notes within the book provide practical support for reading with children, including a list of all the sounds and words that the book will cover.
