Media Centre Description: Children’s animation in which Andy Pandy and his friends Looby Loo and Teddy have endless fun in their candy-coloured world. After Tiffo destroys Teddy's plasticine mouse model, Andy Pandy makes modeling clay so that Teddy can create a model of his mentor. Singers: Gladys Whitred, Julia Williams [voiced the 'Little Weed'] and Maria Bird (in the 1970 colour series). The series was parodied by Des O'Connor in his Dandy Sandy sketches with Harry Secombe and Britt Ekland. Let's go inside Andy's house and join him in his favourite nursery rhymes and games with Teddy and Looby Loo.In 2002, BBC produced a revival of 52 episodes with the use of stop-motion animation instead of string puppets: the original nursery and garden were expanded to an entire village, with Andy, Teddy and Looby Loo now owning individual houses, as well as four new characters that were introduced in the series: Missy Hissy (and Missy Hissy’s brother, another snake who is never seen); Tiffo, a teal-and-purple dog; Bilbo (vocals performed by David Holt), a sailor; and Orbie (vocals performed by Maria Darling), a yellow-and-blue ball. Looby brings some warm sweet drinks for Andy and Teddy in the morning, because it’s colder than it was, and finds them gone. Please note these four episodes are taken from early BBC TV colour footage and the colour may vary between episodes - please do not adjust your set! I wonder why nobody suggests to Andy that maybe he shouldn’t be sleeping in a thick cotton onesie when it’s hot.

When Bilbo finds a box of bolts, Andy Pandy has the novel idea of using them to make a musical wind chime. When Teddy breaks Looby Loo's daisy chain, Andy Pandy shows him how to make colourful beads for a replacement necklace. Credits: Storyteller: Vera McKechnie, singer: Valerie Cardnell, clarinet: Thea King, music: Maria Bird, puppeteers: the Stavordales and Christopher Leith, scripts: Freda Lingstrom. This series was based upon a comic strip of the same name (made in the style of children's magazines Robin and Pippin).Puppeteers: Audrey Atterbury, [5] Molly Gibson, [3] Martin Grainger, The Stavordales and Christopher Leith (in the 1970 colour series). By 1970, as BBC1 was by then transmitted in colour, 13 new episodes were produced and shown from 5 January 1970.
